New sketch
The tool “New Sketch” was developed by us to quickly get an initial sketch in which the origin (0,0) and the axes are included. In contrast to the possibility to add these as projected elements to the sketch, the tool “New Sketch” automatically draws these elements as points and construction lines and makes them dependent. So you can immediately start drawing a contour and use the automatically created elements to create dependencies and dimensions.
Why can it be important that the origin and the axes are not projected elements?
When you copy a sketch and paste it on another work plane, the projected dependencies are lost and your sketch becomes unstable. However, if you use a sketch that does not contain any projected elements, the dependencies will be preserved and your sketch will be stable.
At the moment the tool is only available in parts.
Extended functionality:
The sketch is no longer named according to the Inventor Standard Schema (Sketch1, Sketch2 ….).
Sketches created with “New Sketch” contain the name of the underlying work plane. (Sk: XY plane: 1). This later facilitates the mapping and editing of sketches in the browser tree.
